The schoolhouse is reported to be haunted. It has been visited by dozens of paranormal groups and the Discovery channels My Ghost Story and Ghost Stalkers. We were there in September of 2015 and found it to be very haunted. Each one of our team members had an experience while spending the night there. This was one of the most haunted places TIGS has investigated over the years.
Farrar School
Maxwell, Iowa
Farrar is a small community in Polk Co. Iowa. It consists of a schoolhouse, church and 13 homes. Across the road from the schoolhouse is a cemetery. The cornerstone of the school was was inscribed 1921, and the dedication ceremony was held on April 1, 1922. An orchestra played on the auditorium stage as a banquet was served to the hundreds of people in attendance.
While spending the night at Farrar Schoolhouse we had experienced some personal experiences and captured on camera compelling evidence. The boiler room was the most unnerving. I was with Jim and we were conducting an EVP session, we heard a shuffling sound and while in a room with piping and valves my camera went to static and was zooming in and out by itself then shut off. We then heard a deep voice, we felt a freezing cold even though it was hot in the room. I did one thing I never do on an investigation, I said we have to leave this room and not come back. None of us went to the boiler room the rest of the investigation.
On our investigation we collected substantial evidence to corroborate claims by other sources. Our EVP sessions confirmed reports of activity with male and female entities, our spirit box session confirmed reports of children spirits and the dark entity referred to as the principal. During the investigation one of our investigators became ill and couldn't continue. We left in the morning convinced that the Farrar school is Haunted.
